Veterans Affairs Benefits

Summary:

The Department of Veterans Affairs produces a file showing all institutions/organizations where veterans have claimed education benefits over the past year. It is not located with other Veteran’s Affairs agency reports but on a consumer-facing page. The universe of institutions/programs in this data set is much larger th an that in IPEDS, which only includes institutions eligible for Title IV financial aid.

Best for:

Understanding the extent of institutions/states participation in or dependence on VA programs as a source of support, and the range of non-Title IV postsecondary programs available.

Not as good for:

Disaggregating by student characteristics, analyzing overlap with Title IV programs.
